I did find a definition of the "apocalyptic" worldview in the foot notes. I still think the book wold benefit (even in an Appendix ) from a more thorough discussion of this worldview and what the alternative worldviews are -- and some of the "rationale" for coming down on the "apocalyptic" side.

2. I found it curious on p.31 that if one was going to start categoring the areas (characteristics) on which one should avoid "discriminationing" or treating prejudicially that the authors didn't list gender along with social location (status?) and race.

3. On p. 39 I think there should be more clarity in the idea that today's definition (or thinking about things leads us to the Statement "everyone is a Christian but few are Christians (disciples of Jesus) in the manner envisioned by Jesus -- Taking a Biblical term (Christians) that is equivalent to disciples (called Christians first at Antioch) and accepting the current wordly definition - without making it clear that you are doing seem inadequate -- although I agree that what they are doing is clear from the context.

Son ot much to "critique" and lots to applaud.

God Bless
CharlieCandle (C & L)http://www.blogger.com/profile/15612304995588636923noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7760050.post-1159464356138557862006-09-28T10:25:00.000-07:002006-09-28T10:25:00.000-07:00JD what a good summary of our aim in this chapter....JD what a good summary of our aim in this chapter. I believe this chapter is truly near the heart of the apocalyptic worldview. We are God's and none other. The kingdom, God's reign, is refreshingly challenging even awe inspiring in its demand for allegiance. God in his grace though provides us with the "tools" to live in his kingdom. I hope the other chapters will make that clear, if they don't we have failed in our attempts to communicate.

Shalom,
Bobby ValentineStoned-Campbell Disciplehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00807468566670784346noreply@blogger.com
